Last November 14-18, the local startup community gathered at the Philippine Startup Week 2022, with the theme, “Homegrown Heroes: Cultivating Future Tech Giants.”
Philippine Startup Week was held online for the past two years. But this year it went hybrid—showcasing over 150 homegrown startups, 300 speakers, and 100 community events with the help of over 50 community partners.
Peddlr was one of the community partners who had the opportunity to conduct a community event. The event’s theme was “Channeling Digital and Financial Inclusion to Champion Micro and Small Merchants”.
Trisha Basal (User Experience Support), Ma. Adelfa Lagbas (User Experience Lead), and Vicente Candido (OIC of the Business Development Division of the DTI – Samar Provincial Office) served as the speakers of the event.
During the event, Vicente Candido stated: “MSMEs are the backbone of the Philippine economy and the heroes of our community.” Indeed, MSMEs play a significant role in fostering economic growth due to their substantial contribution to the nation’s GDP. In order to strengthen their capabilities as one of the economic drivers, we need to provide them with support such as financing and digital adoption.
With the growing startup ecosystem in the Philippines, the #PHSW22 conference is relevant to bring local startups together and to tackle sustaining the growth of the local startup scene while forging long-term partnerships, investments, and collaboration to take the ecosystem a step further.
Thank you to the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Trade & Industry, Department of Information and Communications Technology, and QBO Innovation Hub for making the event possible.
